Garage Gin

I seem to be tripping over myself with cutting-edge foodie experiences at the moment.

Yesterday I stumbled upon Ropewalk in Maltby Street not so far from the now over-popular Borough Market in London.

A clutch of small-scale top quality producers selling their stuff from rented arches under the railway....this is the former

haunt of The Kernel Brewery, whose delicious beers I had the pleasure of trying at a very successful Toast cheese and beer tasting back in the Autumn.

NOW Sparrow Gin has taken over the space - and wow - it was great too!

Bespoke gin producers are all the rage at the moment - and this gin was the cat's whiskers.

Great gin cocktails - I had a gin-based Bloody Mary complete with stick of celery and black pudding!

And don't just take my word for it - my mate John was sold on it too!

But the thing I REALLY REALLY liked - was the space: literally someone's garage - but somehow it really worked!

I loved the messy make-do vibe.

Word has it, that come the Autumn, Sparrow Gin will be curating bespoke gin nights in nearby Lasco's.

Think wood-panelling, slipper baths, candle-light, London smog - and gin!

Can't wait!
