Chic goes global

Thu, 03/07/2013 - 13:38

You can already buy Chic on a Shoestring in the US and Canada but now it's time to brush up your German!

Chic on a Shoestring is now on sale over there. They've kept the cover but changed the title - I like!

Back up and running (well trotting anyway)

Wed, 02/27/2013 - 18:12

Well, I'm sorry to have been away from the blog these last couple of months, but you know what? I really needed a break. Sometimes, it's good to get back in touch with real life and leave the virtual world behind for a while. We spend too much time tapping on our key boards and not enough breathing fresh air, listening to each other, and creating. I just needed to gather myself in during the cold winter months and hibernate un peu. Now with (a touch) of Spring in the air, I feel the first faint stirrings of life!

2013

Fri, 01/04/2013 - 13:47

Wishing you all a very happy and fulfilling 2013!

I hope your creative dreams make progress and that you find success.

I'm looking forward to the publication of my new book in March/April this year.

"The Modern Girl's Guide to Hat Making" will be packed full of fabulous and imaginative headwear to make at home.

Can't wait!

Bordeaux finds

Fri, 11/02/2012 - 12:43

I think it's probably time I opened a shop!

On a recent press trip to Bordeaux I spotted two very different vintage display mannequins - they'd be just perfect for my imaginary space.

The first is a 1940's underwear display model - it's quite rare apparently. I think it actually has a really eye-catching sculptural form.

Lighting up our lives

Sun, 10/21/2012 - 17:59

Walking in the Norman Street area of St Leonards-on-Sea at the weekend I spied this sign in the window of a converted pub.

I realised that I'd seen the same sign in Coast magazine a few months back....and that this must be the place that featured in the Coast article.

Imagine my delight when the following day, I went back and the place was open!

Autumnal fleas

Thu, 10/04/2012 - 18:53

To my mind there's no better time of year to go flea market shopping than the early days of autumn.

The sky is blue, the sun is out, but there's a crisp nip in the air. Here's my friend Ailsa perusing the bargains at the Arkona Square flea market in Berlin - a lovely little neighourhood market that springs to life on Sundays. Lots of interesting things to look at...and a good cafe on the corner. We had a fab breakfast there.

About time too!
